Wolverine track and field compete in New Plymouth invitational

The Weiser track teams traveled to New Plymouth for a meet on May 7. The Wolverines competed in a field of 20 teams. The Weiser boys came in third with 70 points and the girl’s team came in fifth with 48.5 points. Melba took the first place spot for boys and girls with 123 team points for the boys and 166.5 points for girls. In second was Fruitland with 80.06 points for their boy’s team and 74.5 points for the girls.
 Brian Munoz came in seventh for Weiser in the 200 meters with time of 24.67 seconds. Triston Kautz placed ninth with a time of 24.72 seconds.
 In the 400 meter, Triston Kautz earned second place with a time of 53.08 seconds, Colton Foster came in sixth with 54.57 seconds.
 Brayden Walker took second in the 800 meters at 2:09.28. Maddox Stevens was tenth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.15 seconds.
 In the 300-meter hurdles Brayden Walker came in first for the Wolverines with a time of 41.89 seconds.
 In the 4x100 relay the Weiser boy’s team of Mason Grimaldo, Maddox Stevens, Brian Munoz, and Jayden Walker ended in ninth place with a time of 48.21 seconds
 Weiser took third place in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:37.36. Running the 4x200 was Colton Foster, Brayden Walker, Brian Munoz, and Michael Youngberg.
 The team of Michael Youngberg, Brayden Walker, Colton Foster, and Triston Kautz came in second place for the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:43.61. Weiser also took ninth place with the team of Daniel Clemmer, Logan Ankerberg, Kian Hartley, and Colyer Chandler. Their time was 4:03.70.
 Weiser finished seventh in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:17.49. Running for Weiser was Mason Grimaldo, Levi Swank, Edgar Lazaro, and Kasey Kautz.
 Daniel Rodriguez came in eighth in the discus with a distance of 121 feet 7 inches, a personal record for him. A jump of 5 feet 10 inches earned Nick Swank fourth place in the high jump.
 In pole vault, first place went to Sam Ellingson at 12 feet 6 inches. Triston Kautz took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 19 feet 11.5 inches and Jordan Watkins took sixth with 19 feet 9.5 inches.
 Weiser’s Michael Youngberg took ninth in the triple jump with a 37 feet 10 inch jump.
 Weiser varsity girls had one top ten finisher in the 200-meters. Reagan Doty in ninth with 28.96 seconds.
 Senior Alyssa Olvera came in sixth for the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.34 seconds. In eighth was Kiana Olvera with a time of 18.78 seconds.   
 In the 300-meter hurdles, Alyssa Olvera came in second at 51.16 seconds.
 Weiser took fifth place in the 4x100 relay with the team of Ashlyn Walker, Shae Kunz, Alyssa Olvera, and Shelby Aldrich. Their time was 53.49 seconds.   
 A time of 1:53.77 gave the Wolverines fourth place in the 4x200 relay. Running for Weiser was Shae Kunz, Reagan Doty, Mattie Shirts, and Shelby Aldrich.
 In the 4x400 relay Weiser girls took the fourth place spot with Alyssa Olvera, Shae Kunz, Emri Kunz, and Mattie Shirts. Their time was 4:35.28.
 Weiser varsity girls were seventh in the sprint medley relay. Emily Christopherson, Ashlyn Walker, Melodee Cathey, and Emri Kunz ran the race in 2:08.78.
 The Wolverines had one girl in the top ten for shot put. Melissa Sandoval came in third at 31 feet 11.5 inches.
 Whitney Turner took ninth in the discus with 90 feet 11 inches. Shelby Aldrich and Mattie Shirts came in second and eighth place respectively in the high jump at 4 feet 10 inches for Aldrich and 4 feet 4 inches for Shirts.
 In the pole vault Shae Kunz came in sixth with a height of 8.
 For girls long jump Ashlyn Walker took tenth with a jump of 15 feet 1.5 inches. Mattie Shirts took fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 33 feet 2.75 inches.
