Weiser track and field team qualifies 12 to compete at the State meet

District track was held in Parma this past weekend on May 13 and 14. The top four places in the field events and the top two places in running earned a spot at the state meet on May 21 and 22.
 The Wolverines competed in a field of six teams for the 3A district meet. The Weiser boys came in third overall with 100.33 points and the girl’s team came in fourth with 85.5 points. Fruitland took the first place spot for boys with 113.67 team points. In second was Homedale with 112 points.
 For the girl’s teams McCall-Donnelly came in first with 159 points, Fruitland was second with 115 points, and Parma took third with 103 points. The Weiser girls ended in fourth place overall with 85.5 team points.      
 Triston Kautz came in second for Weiser in the 200 meters with time of 23.38 seconds, a personal record for him. Brian Munoz placed fifth with a time of 24.14 seconds.
 In the 400 meter, Triston Kautz earned first place with a time of 52.30 seconds, Colton Foster came in third with 53.52 seconds.
 Brayden Walker took second in the 800 meters at 2:03.61. Maddox Stevens was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.92 seconds.
 In the 300-meter hurdles Brayden Walker came in first for the Wolverines with a time of 41.42 seconds, and Nick Swank was fourth with a time of 43.21 seconds.
 In the 4x100 relay the Weiser boy’s team of Jayden Walker, Chris Cornejo, Brian Munoz, and Jordan Watkins ended in third place with a time of 46.50 seconds
 Weiser took third place in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:35.34. Running the 4x200 was Colton Foster, Brayden Walker, Brian Munoz, and Michael Youngberg.
 The team of Colton Foster, Brayden Walker, Michael Youngberg, and Triston Kautz came in first place for the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:34.91.
 Weiser finished fourth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:11.63. Running for Weiser was Mason Grimaldo, Levi Swank, Kasey Kautz, and Edgar Lazaro.
 A jump of 5 feet 4 inches earned Nick Swank sixth place in the high jump.
 In pole vault, second place went to Sam Ellingson at 11 feet 6 inches; Gabriel Rasmussen came in seventh with 10 feet 6 inches.
 Triston Kautz took second in the long jump with a jump of 20 feet 1.5 inches and Jordan Watkins took third with 19 feet 11.75 inches,.
 Weiser’s Michael Youngberg took fifth in the triple jump with a 37 feet 11 inch jump.
 Weiser varsity girls had two top ten finisher in the 100-meter. Emily Christopherson in sixth with a time of 13.97 seconds and Ashlyn Walker in seventh with 14.05 seconds.
 Reagan Doty came in seventh for the 200-meter with 28.95 seconds. Samantha Despain was eighth in the 400-meter with a time of 1:11.03.
 Roma Walker took seventh in the 800-meter with 2:44.08 and she was sixth in the 1600-meter with a time of 6:29.76.
 Senior Alyssa Olvera came in fifth for the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.77 seconds.   
 In the 300-meter hurdles, Alyssa Olvera came in second at 49.74 seconds and Kiana Olvera came in seventh at 54.20 seconds.
 Weiser took second place in the 4x100 relay with the team of Ashlyn Walker, Shae Kunz, Alyssa Olvera, and Shelby Aldrich. Their time was 52.88 seconds.   
 In the 4x400 relay Weiser girls took the second place spot with Alyssa Olvera, Shae Kunz, Kate Davies, and Mattie Shirts. Their time was 4:21.05.
 Weiser varsity girls were fourth in the sprint medley relay. Emily Christopherson, Ashlyn Walker, Kate Davies, and Emri Kunz ran the race in 2:04.22.
 The Wolverines had three girls in the top ten for shot put. Melissa Sandoval came in second at 32 feet 2.75 inches, Ellie Eames was eighth with 27 feet 8.5 inches, and Whitney Turner was ninth with 26 feet 4.25 inches.
   Shelby Aldrich and Mattie Shirts came in second and fourth place respectively in the high jump at 4 feet 10 inches for Aldrich and 4 feet 4 inches for Shirts.
 In the pole vault Reagan Doty earned first place with a vault of 10 feet 6 inches and  Shae Kunz tied with Cori Hat field of McCall-Donnelley for second with a height of 9 feet.
 For girl’s long jump Shelby Aldrich came in third with a jump of 15 feet 10.25 inches and Ashlyn Walker took fifth with 14 feet 10.75 inches.
 Mattie Shirts took second in the triple jump with a jump of 33 feet 2 inches.
  Weiser has 15 athletes that qualified for state: Triston Kautz, Brayden Walker, Alyssa Olvera, Ashlyn Walker, Shae Kunz, Shelby Aldrich, Kate Davies, Mattie Shirts, Melissa Sandoval, Reagan Doty, Sam Ellingson, Jordan Watkins, Colton Foster, Michael Youngberg, and Maddox Stevens.
