The second year of the Weiser River Music Festival promises a stellar lineup of bands and nearly non-stop entertainment this weekend.
Promoter Nick Reed, the owner of Ruszoni’s Pizza in Weiser, started the new concert in Weiser in 2018 with the goal of bringing live music and visitors to Weiser for a weekend of entertainment in the great outdoors.
The festival will start on Thursday with a launch party at Ruszoni’s Pizza in downtown Weiser and a free concert at 6 p.m.
The weekend of live music starts up on Friday at 1 p.m. at the outdoor venue immediately north of Hometown Motors at 606 U.S. Highway 95 next to the Weiser River.
Bands will play until 2 a.m. on Saturday morning. The music starts again on Saturday afternoon at about 2 p.m. after the fiddle contest parade in Weiser and will continue until 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Campers who bought spots can check in on Thursday at 10 a.m. and checkout Sunday at 1 p.m. There is also RV camping on the site.
The 17 bands booked for the festival represent an eclectic mix from all over the Northwest. The music will be basically nonstop and feature Leftover Salmon as headliners, along with Dirty Revival, Jelly Bread, Jeff Crosby, Free Peoples, Dodgy Mountain Men and more. Some well-known local acts also will play the event, including the Stephen Morningstar Experience and Stella Beams.
During the planning for the inaugural music festival in 2018, Reed had an architect look at the field and do an overlay of what would work best with the Weiser River as a backdrop. A true festival, there will be tent and RV camping and day parking.
Besides the music, there will be lots of stuff to do for adults and kids at the concert site. The Victoria Arriero-Thomas Studio will be running the kids events. The goat yoga will be back. The fun includes river rafting, float building, parade, face painting, tie dye, obstacle courses, dancing and more.
There will be food vendors set up at the festival, including a pizza truck serving up slices of pie. Beer and wine also will be sold on site, along with other vendors.
Perhaps, most important for an outdoor venue. The weather looks good for the this weekend.
Tickets are available online and at the gate. The cost depends on how many days are purchased. Kids 12 and under get in free. No dogs are allowed.
