Seniors will benefit from new scanner at Weiser hospital

I do believe spring is on its rocky way to our state, at least I have a glimmer of hope as this day of writing is beautiful.
March was an interesting month. There was the great breakfast with the Gem State Fiddlers playing, and also jamming on the second and fourth Thursday evenings.  Our dance and potluck was great and well attended.  More new faces showed up and will be back.  A reminder that all are welcome, so please come and join us.
I was privileged to attend the Friends of the Hospital annual luncheon at the Vendome, and the main speaker was Steve Hale, CEO. He brought us up to date on the new CT Tech scanner that the Festival of trees helped purchase.
The specs I have saved, but the main thing is that the upgraded technology enables the physicians to visualize and diagnose internal injuries and health disorders in less time, while at the same time decreasing unnecessary patient transfers to Boise or other hospitals.
It has less radiation exposure, increases amount of images per rotation and can lead to a quicker diagnosis. It’s a lifesaver for all of us.
Hale said that the scanner can now read the blood flow in the brain, and can tell whether the patient has had a stroke or not. If it’s a stroke it cuts down on time that the patient gets to help, as they can transfer immediately, and sends the info ahead so the doctors there can have all the preparations made before the patient arrives.
There is much more technical stuff but this is the main theme. I have included this in my monthly column because, although not directly related to the center, it does pertain to us seniors and you not quite yet seniors.
Remember our breakfast on April 6. The cost is $6 and also don’t forget our dance and potluck on April 13. The cost is $5. Come play pinochle every Thursday at 1 p.m.
The foot clinic will be held on May 8 and July 10. The cost is $20 and no appointment is necessary. Keep on keeping on. Hugs.
