The Scoular Company’s grain-handling facilities in Weiser were not part of the recent sale of operations in Notus and Ontario, Ore.
Scoular sold the two locations to United Grain Corp. of Vancouver, Wash., which took ownership as of Feb. 1. The operations include grain bins and pile locations, according to a news release from UGC.
United Grain Corp. said it will immediately have bids at the facilities in Ontario and Notus for soft white, hard red winter, club and spring wheat.
The company will also continue to partner with Scoular on its corn program for the next year to ensure a seamless transition.
In announcing the deal, United Grain Corp. officials said the acquisition of Scoular’s holdings in Notus and Ontario was a “strategic objective” for expanding the 50-year-old company.
Officials with Scoular corporate office in Omaha, Neb., said the Weiser facilities were not included in the United Grain Corp. purchase.
The Weiser Signal American asked Scoular corporate officials via email if the Weiser operations were for sale and if the company planned any operational changes.
Melissa Matczak, senior manager of corporate communications for Scoular, sent a response on Monday.
“Scoular continually evaluates its asset mix and investment opportunities and is currently evaluating its options for its facilities in Weiser,” she said.
Scoular bought two grain-handling facilities in Weiser from Weiser Feed and Storage in 2012.
At the time of the purchase Scoular said it would handle, store, and market grains as well as operate a seed cleaning business.
The company also planned to upgrade the 520,000-bushel facility on the east side of Weiser by expanding its drying capacity.
Scoular has 102 offices and facilities worldwide and more than $4 billion in sales.
The company provides global and diverse supply chain solutions for end-users and suppliers of grain, feed ingredients, and food ingredients.
