The Robert Weed Plywood Corp. facility on River Dock Road in the Weiser Industrial Park closed as of June 28, according to multiple employees.
The company manufactures and supplies painted and laminated panels, cabinet doors and other products for recreational vehicles and manufactured houses.
The local plant manager said the company had no comment on the closure. A phone call and emails sent to the privately owned company’s headquarters in Bristol, Ind., were not answered. The company employs 18-20 people at its Weiser operation.
The company has another operation in Twin Falls that is closer to one of its major customers, Jayco, a builder of recreational vehicles. It was not known if the Weiser employees were offered work at the Twin Falls plant.
The Twin Falls location has a 50,000 square feet facility that was completed in 2008. The plant manufactures painted and laminated panels, cabinet doors and wrapped profile moulding.
The company acquired the Weiser Products Inc. in Weiser in 2007 and renamed it RWP West LLC as part of plans to expand into the western U.S. The facility in Weiser has 40,000 square feet of space.
