Open burning allowed in city

Open burning is allowed within the city limits of Weiser until further notice, Weiser City Fire and Rescue Chief Kerry Nyce said, hoping to clear up some confusion about the burn ban.
 Washington County imposed a burn ban on June 17 that covers the unincorporated areas in the county. The ban doesn’t impact the city.
 Nyce said dispatch needs to be notified of any open burning at 208-414-2121. The hours for open burning are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 Anyone burning in the city needs to have a water supply and 15 feet of clear space and no overhead wires.
 Warming fires or fire pits are permitted without having to call dispatch. Nyce said be courteous to neighbors and extinguish the fire when finished. Don’t let it smolder overnight. No burning of trash or garbage is allowed.
