Many topics to be covered on Washington County's annual weed tour June 13

The Lower Weiser River Cooperative Weed Management Area, in conjunction with Washington County weed control, is hosting the 19th annual county noxious weed tour on Thursday, June 13.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the program beginning at 8 a.m. at the county weed department, located at 1118 E. Court St., Weiser.
The 2019 tour will include a presentation on the controversial pesticide glyphosate covering recent issues that are in the news regarding this widely used product. The second stop of the day will address selecting the most effective herbicide for specific noxious weeds and why certain products are more effective on some plants than others.
The group will learn about the noxious weed control and rehabilitation that is occurring along the Little Weiser River known as the Snake River stewardship program that is being led by Idaho Power.
Personal Protective Equipment will be demonstrated and will include the many types and how to properly use them according to the pesticide label requirements. Numerous items will be on display and attendees will be able to ask questions to help select products to ensure safety while handling pesticides.
The final presentation of the day will focus on using social media and various branding aspects in an effort to attract the attention of those who may not be aware of noxious weeds. New species found throughout the state will be covered as well.
The tour will conclude with four Idaho pesticide recertification credits offered to Idaho licensed pesticide applicators. Transportation and lunch is provided at no charge compliments of the Lower Weiser River CWMA. Please dress accordingly as we will be in the field all day.
Please RSVP by calling the weed department at 414-1950.
