Lady wrestlers did extremely well at tournament in Emmett

Weiser team consists of four wrestlers who won three matches

Last Wednesday, Weiser travelled to Homedale for the final SRV match of the season. Weiser filled all of their weights except for 106 pound weight class, which they haven’t filled consistently all season. Mickel Drydale has been fluctuating between 98 and 106 all season trying to see where to compete at the state level.

Weiser also didn’t have a 182 pounder due to some injuries. Despite this, Weiser did excellent against Homedale taking several forfeits and making the most of the wrestling opportunities that they were given.
Both Nevarez brothers did well in their matches with Charlie winning by fall in 1:49 and Billy holding out until the very end for a fall. Trenton Hawker had another nice match added to his season winning his match by fall in 1:45. Weiser ultimately won the dual with a nice score of 52-27.
 Individual results were:
98 - Mickel Drydale lost by fall.
 106 lost by forfeit.
113 Charlie Nevarez won by fall.
120 Billy Nevarez won by fall.
126 Cole Ingle lost by fall.
132 Weston Black won by fall.
138 Jahir Cervantes lost by fall.
145 Stockton Young won by forfeit.
152 Kash Cobb won by forfeit.
160 Willie Sudderth won by major decision.
170 Maddox Stevens won by forfeit.
 182 double forfeit.
195 Kaleb Grove won by forfeit.
220 Trenton Hawker won by fall.
285 Tristan McMahill lost by fall.
The boys got a chance to rest and recuperate for the weekend heading into Districts this next weekend. The girls didn’t get that luxury, but they haven’t gotten as many matches as the men’s team this year either.
They headed to Emmett for a tournament on Saturday. This was a dual tournament where the ladies team went against five other teams.  Weiser did extremely well and only lost two of the duals due to the fact that the ladies team consists of four wrestlers and therefore forfeits become an issue.
Weiser went against Rocky Mountain first and won 18-15. Mackenzie Fletcher won by fall in her match to give Weiser the extra points to take the lead.
Next was Fruitland and Audrey DeLeon took on the same opponent in two different weight classes to give Weiser the go ahead to win 18-12. DeLeon won both matches by fall.
Aliyah Alhilla won her match by fall in the first round in just 58 seconds. This was a great win for the ladies.
The next match was a bye for the ladies so that they could prepare for Owyhee the newer school in the Vallivue School District. Owyhee got the upper hand to pull out the win by just three points with a score of 24-21. Forfeits definitely played into the defeat. There were some awesome performances with Audrey DeLeon again winning by fall in just 37 seconds. Payzlee Wilkins also won by fall in 1:52. Aliyah Alhilla won by decision and Mackenzie Fletcher received a win by forfeit.
Borah was up next with Weiser winning 18-10. Audrey DeLeon again won by fall against her opponent in 1:10 as did Aliyah Alhilla in just 51 seconds.
Last but not least was a dual match against Boise. Sheer numbers came into play against the 5A team and two wins by forfeit by Mackenzie Fletcher and Aliyah Alhilla and another fall by DeLeon in just 1:16 couldn’t stop Boise who came out on top 33-18.  The girls got a lot of wrestling in and did well this past weekend.
Next weekend both girls and boys will be traveling to their district tournaments in Payette. Come cheer on your Wolverines.
