Homedale makes late game run for 15-9 win

Holding a 7-3 lead over Homedale after five innings, Weiser’s Lady Wolverines watched their chances for the 2022 SRV title slip away in the final two, taking a 15-9 loss.
The Wolverines put two on the board in the bottom of the first on walks, steals, and errors. Ivy Morris walked in the first at-bat, then stole her way to third. Paisley Noyer walked, and stole second. Morris scored on a passed ball. Noyer advanced to third on the same pitch, and then scored on the same error, putting Weiser up 2-0.
It was three up, three down in the second inning for both teams.
The Trojans put three runs on the board in the third on one hit and one error. The Wolverines couldn’t get any traction to answer in the bottom half, shut down after four at-bats, but returned the favor in the top of the fourth.
Weiser moved into a 6-3 lead in their half of the fourth inning on three singles, a pair of walks, and a score made on a passed ball before the final out.
Three fly-outs in a row for the Trojans in the top of the fifth put Weiser back on offense.
Three singles had the bases loaded before the first out. Rylee Roberts was caught stealing home for the second, but Abi Wilkins scored on a passed ball before the final pitch on a strikeout to give the Wolverines a 7-3 lead.
A fielding error and a single put two on base for Homedale early in the top half of the sixth. K. Christofferson singled to score one run. A grounder to shortstop Tobie Noyer and fielder’s choice to Morris at second was good for the second out. A single, a double, and an error added four more runs, edging the Trojans into an 8-7 lead.
Two outs into the bottom of the sixth, T. Noyer singled on a ground ball to center. P. Noyer homered in the next at bat, scoring two and retaking Weiser’s lead, but ever so briefly.
A series of singles, doubles, and defensive errors resulted in seven runs for the Trojans in the top of the seventh. Weiser’s comeback was cut short by a pair of pop outs and a strikeout in the bottom, giving Homedale the 15-9 win.
Tobie Noyer pitched the first four innings for Weiser, allowing three runs on one hit, striking out four and walking one. Paisley Noyer took over in the fifth, going two and a-third innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits. Whitney Cordes threw the last one-third of the top half of the seventh, allowing three runs on one hit.
