Event raises money for foundation and future football camps for kids

Tim Wrightman hosted a charity event at his Lazy Bear Ranch near Weiser on June 15 and invited the public to come out.
With everyone in the community welcome, the goal was to raise money for the Tim Wrightman Foundation and his football camp put on for kids in the area.
At the event, Wrightman, a former NFL player with the Chicago Bears, provided live bands, such as Soul Patch, Just for Kicks, and Simple Ruckus, lots of food, and a kids zone with a bouncy house and some fun lawn games for his guests’ entertainment.
The food included a Mexican tent, a barbecue grill, and a beer garden. There was also a live auction during the evening to help raise money. The ranch was a perfect place for this type of event with its large open venue.
With a passion for both football and kids, Wrightman put on this event with the desire to make his football camp free for the players, reaching out to the ones who can’t afford the big expensive camps.
Wrightman grew up in a single parent home where he was economically disadvantaged. It is the kids that have similar situations to his that Wrightman focuses on. He wants the camp to be free and fun for them, in addition to reminding them to both keep working and trying hard, and stay in school.
The camp will be on the first Saturday of May. Wrightman’s first camp was held last May with 34 kids from around the Treasure Valley. Wrightman’s goal for next year is 60 kids.
At the camp, the kids do both a couple hours of football drills and an integrity and character chalk talk about overcoming adversity and making life decisions.
Although the charity event was some work to put on and provide all the necessities, it was for a great cause and Wrightman said everything was worth it as long as the people had fun.
