Dolphins notch victories at local swim team meet

The Weiser Dolphin Swim Team competed well at its July 10 meet held at Weiser Memorial Pool.
Weiser took on Parma, Hidden Springs, and Mountain Home, each team represented by approximately 25 swimmers participating in 74 events, some with multiple heats.
The Dolphins competed in almost every event, many swimming fast enough to snag the first-place blue ribbon.
Placing first for the boys were Spencer Messick, Gage Walker, Charlie Woods, Eli Woods, Brooks Bumgarner, Nathan Price, Dax Crossley, and Alex Woods.
Recording wins for the girls were Eliana Lattin, Adri Folke, Ellie Woods, and Olivia Lattin.
Weiser is lucky to have a variety of talented individuals, not afraid to swim against and beat even the large schools.
Spencer Messick, 10, swam fast and strong on his way to winning five events, including the boys’ 9-10, 25-meter fly, in 17.40 seconds; boys’ 10 and up, 100-meter, 46.00; boys’ 9-10, 50-meter free, 33.30; boys’ 9-10, 100-meter free, 1:22.30; and boys 9-10, 50-meter back, 42.15 seconds.
Gage Walker, age 13, also swam hard and speedy in his events, including the boys’ 12 and up, 200-meter medley relay, completed in 2:47.00; and boys 13-14, 100-meter free in 1:18.04.
Charlie Woods, 16, Eli Woods, 15, Nathan Price, 12, and Brooks Bumgarner, 12, teamed up for the boys’ 12 and up, 200-meter free relay, bringing home the win with a time of 2:17.72.
Brooks Bumgarner also scored a win in the boys’ 11-12, 100-meter free with a time of 1:16.00.
Alex Woods, 12, took home the win in the boys’ 11-12, 50-meter breast with a time of 49.37, while Dax Crossley, the last Weiser boy Dolphin to take home a blue ribbon, won the boys’ 8 and up, 25-meter breast in 31.90.
The Weiser Dolphin girls competed fiercely, coming up on top for many events.
The four girls, Eliana Lattin, age 7, Adri Folke, age 8, Ellie Woods, age 9, and Olivia Lattin, age 9, showed amazing teamwork to win the girls’ 11 and up, 200-meter free relay, with a time of 3:08.02.
Folke won the girls’ 8 and up, 25 meter breast with a time of 30.93.
Ellie Woods was victorious in the girls’ 9-10, 100-meter free in a fast 1:36.00.
Along with these blue-ribbon winners, every single Weiser Dolphin raced hard and competitively and should be congratulated for their efforts.
For the long, hot day, a concession stand full of baked goods donated from the parents of the swimmers was set up for all the onlookers there to watch and support, along with the timers consisting of parents and lifeguards who made the meet possible.
The Weiser Dolphins swam courageously and fiercely against their opponents, not allowing anything to deter them from competing to claim victory.
Congratulations to every swimmer for their fast times and valiant performances.
