County to auction off property in Weiser

The Board of Washington County Commissioners recently announced it is auctioning off an abandoned property located at 627 W. Idaho St. in Weiser.
Auctioning is scheduled for Monday, July 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Commissioner’s room of the Washington County Courthouse, located at 256 E. Court St. in Weiser.
County Treasurer Sabrina Young was instructed on April 26 to file a tax deed on the property.
Records show the late Charles Norman Flynn as the owner of record. He passed away in recent years, owing $1,540 in taxes dating back to 2017.
The initial price of the property will reflect the amount of back taxes owed, including costs and fees incurred by the County during the tax deed process, according to Young who said the total initial price will not be released prior to the auction.
Anyone with vested interest in the property, however, can still act before the auction takes place, according to Young.
“There is still an opportunity for that property to be redeemed, with a redemption deed, up until the point at which the board of county commissioners would sell that at public auction,” Young explained in April.
“It would be parties of interest, with vested interest in the property, a recorded lien [against the property] or something. If it continues to go unpaid and there is no redemption deed, then it will be available for bidding at auction.”
Young confirmed on Monday, July 19 that anyone with interest in the property has up until the auction date to act.
It is a function of the board of county commissioners, per statute, to conduct the auction, which is administered by the prosecuting attorney’s office.
