City council, school board decided on Nov. 2

The 2021 general election for the Weiser City Council and Weiser School District Board of Trustees was held Nov. 2.
 For city council, incumbents Michael Hopkins and Alicia Cavazos retained their seats, receiving 499 votes and 448 votes respectively, according to unofficial election results. Sterling Blackwell won the third seat up for grabs, receiving 383 votes, beating out Christina Stanley with 287 votes, Brian Heller with 226 votes, and Sisto Zavala who received 182 votes.
 Winners will be sworn in during the first city hall meeting after the first of the year 2022. At that time, the council will consist of Hopkins, Cavazos, Blackwell, Cliff Barberis, Layna Hafer, and Larry Hogg.
 In the Weiser School Board race, Jim Brush received 322 votes and will replace incumbent and long-time trustee Marg Chipman who received 167 votes. Melanie Price who ran unopposed will fill zone 3. Come January, trustees will include Brush, zone 2; Heather Thomas, zone 5; Dr. Mark Pitchard, zone 4; Justin Erickson, zone 1; and Price, zone 3.
