Weiser Citizens on Patrol will continue the annual tradition of a free community Christmas dinner however the COVID-19 pandemic has changed some details.
On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, the COP members will be offering a free take-out style dinner at the Weiser Senior and Community Center. Families and individuals seeking a homemade holiday meal can reserve dinners before Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and have the option of either pick-up or delivery between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The COP organization first began in 2007 and has hosted this dinner tradition for nearly ten years. COP members chose to continue the tradition because of the desire to give back to the community that supports the group.
The organization funds all food for the dinner through the donations received from the community.
At a usual Christmas dinner, the members will serve between 300 and 400 meals. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
The pick-up option will be operated as a drive through system and will be given on a first come, first served basis. Deliveries are offered to addresses within the Weiser City limits.
To reserve a dinner, please call (208) 907-2038 before Christmas Eve. The line for drive through pick-up is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and the COP members ask for no early lineup. Admission into the building will be prohibited to ensure safety for all involved.
