Bruce Hilt
Bruce Hilt of Weiser passed away Feb. 11, 2023, at the age of 75. He will be honored at a celebration of life Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m., which will be held graveside at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, Idaho. A reception will follow at the Train Depot.
His parents were Harry Lee Sylvester Hilt, known as Lee and Grace Ida Walter-Hilt. He was welcomed with excitement by his older brothers on Oct. 2, 1947.
Lee and Grace had three boys, Shelby, now residing in California; Terry of Weiser and Bruce the youngest who lived in Weiser for the majority of his life.
Bruce grew up on a ranch east of Weiser. After graduation he joined the Navy. He spent four years on a ship that carried landing craft “Away all Boats.” He did duty in Vietnam where he came in contact with Agent Orange contributing to his major health issues.
After his time of service, Bruce returned to Weiser where he married Geraldine (Geri) Witte and started his family along with his own construction business. He was a master in all phases of construction.
Bruce was always willing to help others. He had a great personality and was loved by many. He was a happy, friendly person and loved to tease people. He will be greatly missed.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 plus years, Geri, his son J.L., and his daughter, Trisha. He also leaves behind three grandchildren which he adored, Chance, Conner, and Lainey; as well as a great-grandchild to be born this coming August.
