Lady Wolverines bring home first place trophy

   Thursday, Sept. 8, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Vale to take on the Vikings in a pre-season volleyball match. The 1-2 Wolverines dominated the court winning the game 3-0, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-13. 
 After a couple of disappointing losses and a solid win over Nampa Christian, the Weiser Wolverines were hungry and ready to execute what they have been practicing. 

Weiser’s Proud Sound program is ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’

Weiser’s Proud Sound marching band has started preparing for the 2022 competition season. A weeklong camp was held the first week of August which consisted of intensive sessions working on music, marching technique, and drill. 
 The theme of this year’s show is Star Trek, featuring a medley of music from the most recent films but also includes themes from the original tv shows and movies. 

Weiser Garden Club plant swap

 The Weiser Garden Club will have a fall plant swap on Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Weiser Depot. Anyone who has plants they would like to share or would like to add plants to their landscape is invited to attend.

Wolverines advance conference record to 2-0

With a week between games, Weiser’s varsity boys soccer team earned their second conference win this season on Thursday, Sept. 8, beating the Ambrose School Archers 2-0.
 A private pre-K-12 school in Meridian, the Ambrose school’s boys soccer program moved into the Idaho High School Activities Association 3A division a couple of years ago, making a total of five 3A schools in District 3 with boys soccer programs.
 The Wolverines put up a total of 13 shots against the Archers over 80 minutes, with two hitting paydirt in the second half.

Cambridge Fire and Ambulance dinner, dancing, donations

 The Cambridge Fire and Ambulance will have a fundraiser to help purchase a new ambulance on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. The evening will feature dinner, dancing, donations and live auction. Dinner tickets are $25 per person and 10 and under are free. For more information contact Kris Jaeger at 208-566-3244.

ROSE Advocates thrift store moving to E. Commercial St.

After about 20 years in the same location, ROSE Advocates Thrift Store is moving.
 The store is currently located at 27 W. Main St. but will be moving to its new location at 181 E. Commercial St. at the end of the month, with a projected opening date of Oct. 10.
 A grand opening is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 19. More information will be released as it is made available.
 The building was previously operated as a hair and tanning salon.

Weiser girls take top three spots at the Nyssa Invitational

The Weiser High School cross country team competed in the Nyssa Invitational on Sept. 8. It was a large meet with over 15 schools represented. Weiser had a strong showing at the meet. Coach Scott Hale was happy with the improvement and hard work he is seeing from both teams. 
 In the men’s 5000 meter race, Ian Stocket from Victory Charter set the top pace for the day finishing with a time of 16:52.77. He was followed by two of his teammates in second and third place. Victory Charter took first place as a team followed by Fruitland. 

Learn about the future of Idaho Education on Sept. 19

 The Washington County Federation of Republican Women will host Republican candidate for superintendent of public education Debbie Critchfield who will  talk about her vision for Idaho’s public education. Miss Idaho Sarah Jensen will present her social platform on why math matters and her future goals. Weiser Superintendent of Schools Wade Wilson will share his vision for Weiser schools. This free event will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Weiser High School auditorium. The event is open to te public.
