Weiser blanks Cole Valley Christian 49-0

The Wolverines recorded a solid performance Friday, handing 2A Cole Valley Christian High School a 49-0 loss on the Chargers’ home field at Owyhee High School in Meridian.
 It was the team’s second shutout of 2022, the first coming in a 24-0 road win against Buhl in the Wolverines’ season opener on Aug. 26.
 Weiser wasted no time on Friday, scoring on its first two possessions, one following a fumble recovery by the Wolverine defense.

Wolverine girls fall 8-2 to Fruitland, but grow as team

The Weiser High School girls’ varsity soccer team lost 8-2 to Fruitland Thursday, Sept. 15 following a 50-minute delay at Fruitland Middle School due to lightning in the area.
 Skies began turning dark and the wind began picking up approximately 15 minutes into play when the referee blew his whistle four times, confusing players and fans alike. 
 “The game is being stopped because of lightning and players must take shelter,” he said, directing both teams to leave the field. 

Cross country teams place second and fourth in SRV meet

The Weiser High School cross country team competed in McCall on Thursday at the SRV championship in McCall. With this race happening right in the middle of the season, the SRV championship can be a great preview for the district championship at the end of the season. 
 Several Weiser runners were able to finish with season’s best times and did well overall as a team.

Wolverines end three-game week with one win, two narrow losses

The Wolverines varsity boys soccer team held Ontario’s Tigers to a single goal in the first half during Monday’s, Sept. 12, match in Weiser. 
 Ontario’s Jamis Gonzalez found the net on a penalty kick from the right side of the 18 yard box for the first goal. Ontario added two more in the second 40 minutes, scrapping out a 3-0 win.
 Weiser took five shots in the fast paced game, with Weiser sophomore goalkeeper Diego Delgadillo adding 10 saves to his stats.

Weiser Memorial Hospital Outperform Obesity awareness event

Outperform obesity
 A national childhood obesity awareness event “Outperform Obesity” will be held Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at Weiser High School, 690 W. Indianhead Road. The event is for children 10 to 14 years of age. There will be fun activities for kids to promote better health, nutritional and physical interactive activities, 40 swag bags full of healthy goodies from different sponsors and personal donations from Rose Mary and Rosa Covarrubias. Lady Wolverines beat Homedale but take tough loss to Fruitland

The Lady Wolverines hit the road last week for their first league pairing of the 2022 season against the Homedale Trojans, and apparently loaded their brooms on the bus with them because the Lady Wolverines swept the Lady Trojans in straight sets, 25-9, 25-16, and 25-18.
Fruitland
 Coming off the impressive win against the Trojans, the Lady Wolverines hoped their good fortune would continue into the home match-up against Snake River Valley Conference league rivals, the Fruitland Grizzlies.
