Ruby Lorene Pope
Ruby Lorene Pope (Harvey) joined the love of her life, Clifford, on Oct. 5, 2022.
Ruby was born on April 17, 1937, in Drain, Ore., to Lyle and Stella Harvey.
They moved to Weiser and the surrounding area in 1938. She was the oldest of five siblings.
Ruby and Cliff met through friends while she was still in high school, and Cliff was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Ruby graduated from Weiser High School in 1955. They were married in August, 1956. They were blessed with four children.
Ruby lived in Idaho, Georgia, New York and Minnesota while Cliff was in the service. They settled in Weiser and Annex in 1968.
Ruby worked at Ore-Ida, drove bus for Annex and worked in the high school cafeteria.
She was involved in the Gem State Fiddlers, Concordia Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Snake River Heritage Museum during Fiddle Festival week. She enjoyed playing her great-grandfather’s fiddle and baking. She was known for her cinnamon rolls and loaves of bread.
She leaves behind her family (whom she loved beyond measure): children: Lorene Pope, Teresa Roukema (Ed), Anthony Pope (Sherrie), Ronald Pope (Michelle); grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jaime, Terra, Heidi, Jacob, Matthew, Cathryn, Samantha, William, Dillon, Tyler, and Emily; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cliff, and her parents Lyle and Stella Harvey.
Thank you to bonus family members Stephanie and Cheyenne as they cared for our mom/grandmother so the family could love on her in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following: Snake River Heritage Museum, Annex School, Concordia Lutheran church or Ancora Hospice in Fruitland (they were a tremendous comfort, support and help to the family during this difficult time).
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Annex, Ore. Following the service there will be a celebration honoring Ruby’s life at the Vendome Events Center in Weiser.
Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
