Mary Ellen Kilpatrick

Mary Ellen Kilpatrick, 92, passed away on March 22, 2020.
 Mary Ellen was born in Weiser, Idaho, to John and Gertrude Kilpatrick on June 20, 1927. She graduated from Weiser High School in 1945 and the University of Idaho in 1949, with a B.S. in commercial education and a minor in English.
 From 1949 to 1951, Mary Ellen taught commercial subjects at Banks Union High School in Banks, Ore.
 From 1951 to 1955, she served as the private secretary to Idaho’s Governor, Len Jordan. While working with Governor Jordan, she met and assisted President Eisenhower, as well as Chief Justice Earl Warren.
 In 1955, Mary Ellen moved to Chicago, where she served as an executive secretary for a number of prominent businesses, including Arthur Andersen and Co.; Cantor, Fitzgerald and Co., Inc.; Nationwide Industries, Inc.; Heizer Corporation; and Edward Hines Lumber Co. and Southern Mineral Corporation.
 Mary Ellen loved to travel, both domestically and abroad; enjoyed cultural events and regularly attended Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts; and was one of the first residents of 400 E. Randolph, moving into the building while it was under construction.
 Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Lou Vollmer; and her niece, Carol Hinchliffe James.
 She is survived by her sister, Jean Hinchliffe, and several nieces and nephews.
