Kiyoshi ‘Gish’ Amano

Kiyoshi “Gish” Amano passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 2, 2018 at the age of 94. 
 Gish was born April 9, 1924 in Seattle, Wash., to Tokuchiyo and Shizue Amano. 
 He grew up in Lynden, Wash. and then moved to the Ontario/Weiser area in the mid 1940s. It was here where he met and married his wife Tamae “Mary” Wakasugi on Sept. 2, 1948. 
 Gish was a respected farmer in the area for over 70 years. He was also a dedicated member of the Ontario Community Church. 
 Gish is survived by his loving wife Tamae, son Grant and his wife Sally, daughter Dinah and her husband Larry Goto all of Weiser, Idaho and his daughter Nancie and her husband Eric Larson of Boise, Idaho.  
 He will lovingly be remembered by his eight grandchildren, Tonya, Tyler, Monica (Jesse), Marind (Rich), Keely (Kyle), Jeremy (Adrian), Alex and Torie and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Yoneko Kanetomi of Ontario, Oregon. 
 He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Sue Amano and brother-in-law James Kanetomi. Gish will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
 A celebration of Gish’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Ontario Community Church located at 240 SE 3rd St., Ontario, OR 97914 with a reception at the Four Rivers Cultural Center to follow.
