Jan L Hendrickson

Jan L Hendrickson (nee McDaniel) finished her journey on Earth Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at home with her family’s blessing.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Hillcrest Cemetery where she will join the love of her life, Leon Hendrickson.
Jan was born Dec. 18, 1944, in Nampa to Howard and Irene McDaniel, the ninth of their 10 children. She grew up in Nampa.
Jan and Leon met August 1961 and were engaged October 1961. As soon as she graduated high school, the couple was married June 9, 1963.
Their daughter, Tracy, joined them in 1966 and the family circle was completed in 1969 when their son, Mark, was born.
In June 1973 the family moved to Weiser where the couple owned and operated Home Dairies of Weiser until 1986. Jan was an integral part of the business doing the billing, working with the customers and pitching in wherever needed.
After the business was sold, she acquired a CDL and she and Leon drove as a team, picking up and delivering freight across the country for several years.
Jan’s true calling and passion was raising her children and assisting with her grandchildren. If there was a basketball game, baseball game, motorcycle race, track meet or 4-H event her children or grandchildren were involved in she was there cheering them on.
The door of her Weiser home was always open to friends and family and was a gathering place for Mark and Tracy’s friends. Throughout the years several nieces and employees landed there temporarily when they needed safe harbor.
Throughout her life she was a member of St Agnes Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi, the Jaycees and the Elks.
While our hearts ache because she will be absent from our lives, we are at peace knowing she is with our father and grandfather in Heaven, completing the circle of their lives and together now for eternity.
Jan is survived by her children, Tracy Widner and Mark Hendrickson. She also leaves behind her pride and joy, her grandchildren: Zachary Widner and Samantha Widner, Elizabeth Strout, Megan Miller and Hunter Hendrickson, along with the apple of her eye, Sailor Strout, her great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Heart and Home Hospice in Fruitland. Heart and Home helped our parents, Leon and Jan, in so many ways during their final days and the family cannot thank them enough.
