Weiser wrestlers travelled to Homedale this past Wednesday night to take on the Trojans and the New Plymouth Pilgrims.
Weiser beat New Plymouth handily 52-22 and did well against Homedale winning the meet 48-39.
Weiser lost one match due to forfeit and took four away from the Trojans due to forfeit on the night. Of the winning matches that Weiser wrestled, all four were won by falls, showing that Weiser gets it done and can finish well.  Those four wins came from Ty Cobb at 144, Stockton Young at 157, Matthew Monterrosa at 190, and Telsyn Hawker at 215.
After taking on the SRV competition during the week both men’s and women’s squads travelled to Elgin, Ore. for the Elgin Memorial Classic. This tournament is a two day event with POD wrestling the first day and then seeding for the second day in tournament brackets.
The boys took 29 wrestlers to the meet and got a lot of matches in. Thirteen teams competed with Weiser being the only team from outside of Oregon. Weiser won the tournament on the boys side and had some great placers.
In fourth place, Ryder Perkins won at 144. Taking third for the Wolverines was Eric Ramirez at 113, Charlie Nevarez at 132, Wyatt Wrenfrow at 138, and Jahir Cervantes at 157. Second place winners were Wyatt Black at 113, Cole Ingle at 132, Klete Cook at 138, Rick Erickson at 150, and Telsyn Hawker at 215.
The Cobb brothers kept the momentum going bringing home first place finishes to celebrate right before Christmas along with heavyweight Kaiden Peck.
Ty Cobb wrestled at 144 and won all three of his tournament matches by fall. Older brother Kash Cobb who is a returning State Champion senior for the Wolverines, won all three of his tournament matches by fall in less than a minute and a half each time at 175. Kaiden Peck rounded out the first place finishers at 285 and also added two falls to his tournament wins during competition.
On the girls side of the tourney Weiser had four girls competing and each one placed during the competition.
At the 105-110 bracket Weiser took third and fourth place respectively with Corinna Parsons and Daena Padilla. At 120-125, Madisyn Fletcher took second place and at 130-135, Samantha Kingsbury finished in fourth place. The girls placed third overall.
Weiser will be enjoying the holidays next week and then in January they will take on the famous Rollie Lane tournament.
 Go Wolverines!
