The Lady Wolverines make a statement, winning 74 to 5 over the Tigers

On Monday, Dec. 16, the Weiser Wolverines hosted the Ontario Tigers for an exciting night of basketball. The girls’ varsity team played at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ varsity.

The Lady Wolverines started strong with tough defense, quickly putting pressure on the Tigers. Within the first three minutes, Weiser was ahead 13 to 0. Evie Dolton scored the first basket for Weiser with an assist from Kailee Lerew. Lucy Hickey then went on a scoring spree, contributing two layups and a three-pointer. Ellie Shirts and Hailey Eames also scored, adding to the total.
The first quarter continued with the Wolverines dominating the game through their full-court pressure. The teamwork paid off, with Sophia Shirts finishing a possession with a layup, and Jordan Stromberg adding to the score with a baseline drive and an 18-footer, pushing the team to 24 and then 26 points.
With 42 seconds left in the first period, Ontario went to the foul line but made only one of two free throws. The quarter ended with Weiser leading 26 to 1.
Weiser maintained their pressure in the second quarter, scoring frequently while holding Ontario to a single point. Three minutes in, Weiser surpassed the 40-point mark.
