Lockett homers, Torres doubles to tie the score
Down by four runs and with two outs on the board in the bottom of the second, Weiser’s  Jordan Stromberg  hit the first pitch thrown at her, getting on base with a hard ground ball to left field. Then, on a 1-2 count, right fielder Jessica Waite doubled on a line drive to center, sending Stromberg home and changing the Grizzlies lead to 4-1 on Monday, April 1.
Next at bat, senior Danica Lockett was sitting on a 3-2 count when she homered on a line drive to center field, scoring two and cutting Weiser’s deficit to 4-3. Continuing the momentum, leftie Trista Buescher  hit a single to second off of the first pitch, and was followed by a big line drive double to center field by catcher Bennett Torres that sent Buescher home and tied the game 4-4 after two innings.
The tie stood until the Wolverines broke it in the bottom of the sixth, with Buescher scoring two on a double. Torres was hit by a pitch, putting two runners on base for the Wolverines. A passed ball gave Buescher and Torres an opening  to each advance a base. Taylor Mordhorst sacrificed on a ground out and Weiser moved into a 7-4 lead before the final out of the half.
Three consecutive outs in the top of the seventh left Fruitland taking the conference loss.
Weiser gathered 10 hits for seven runs. Lockett went 3-3 and Buescher 2-2, with each scoring two runs and two RBIs. Lockett started in the circle for Weiser, allowing four runs on one hit, and striking out two. Madi Janicek pitched the final five, with no hits, no runs, no errors, and striking out four.
The junior varsity Wolverines scored 10 runs on five hits in earlier action, but took a 15-10 loss in the outing.
