Weiser track teams place first at Parma Invite

The Weiser High School track teams withstood the elements facing wind, cold and rain as they competed against 15 schools during the Parma Invite on April 5. Both Weiser teams dominated with top final scores in both the men’s and women’s competitions. 
 The men’s team earned first place with a score of 125.5. McCall-Donnelly came in second overall with a score of 86. Parma was third with a score of 79. The women’s team finished with a very high team  score of 161.5. Melba came in second with a score of 89.5. McCall-Donnelly finished third with a score of 82.  
 Weiser had several athletes place near the top for several events. Starting with the sprint distances: In the 100m, Jayden Walker placed second with a time of 11.34. Toren Walker placed fourth with a time of 11.42. Brock Spencer placed fifth with a time of 11.58. Jackson Laird placed sixth with a time of 11.59. In the 200m, Jayden Walker finished third with a time of 23.33. Jackson Laird placed fourth with a time of 23.76. Xander Gray placed fifth with a time of  24.15. 
 In the mid-distance races:  Toren Walker was first in the 400 with a time of 51.59 and Garrett Walker placed seventh with a time of 55.78. In the 800m race, Josh Kelley placed fourth with a time of  2:10.4 and Judah Parsons placed fifth with a time of 2:11.48  
 For the long distance races, Judah Parsons placed third in the 1600 with a time of 4:58.12 and Josh Kelley placed fifth with a time of 4:58.12. Jorge Martinez placed sixth with a time of 5:17.37. Ammon Anderson placed seventh with a time of 5:26.59. In the 3200, Judah Parsons placed second with a time of 10:36.32,  Blake Quinton placed third with a time of 10:45.86, Jorge Martinez placed eighth at 11:29.35 and Gage Walker placed 13th with a time of 12:17.14. 
 Weiser’s relay teams all competed well. The 4x100m team: Brock Spencer, Jackson Laird, Jayden Walker, and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 43:76. The 4x200 team: Aaron Alva, Alex Juarez, Riggin Roberts, and Gabriel McLaughlin placed third with a time of 1:42.95. The 4x400 team: Jayden Walker, Jackson Laird, Garrett Walker and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 3:37.82. 
 Several athletes also did well in field events. In shot put, Karsten Walker placed eighth with a throw of 38’ 11.5”.  Brock Spencer placed fifth in high jump with a height of 5’4”.  In the pole vault, Ben Hansen and Xander Gray placed fifth with a height of 9’6”.  In long jump, Xander Gray placed second with a distance of 19’11”. 
 In the womens’ competition, Weiser dominated with a team score of 161.5. Melba placed second with a score of 89.5. McCall- Donnelly placed third with a score of 82. 
 In the sprint distances: Madi Wilkins placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.66. In the 200, Kailee Lerew placed first with a time of 27.14. Evie Dolton placed seventh with a time of 30.52. In the 300m hurdles, Abi Wilkins placed third with a time of 54.91 and Rylee Roberts placed fifth with a time of 56.22. 
 In the mid-distance races,  Kailee Lerew placed first in the 400m with a time of 1:01.86. Madi Jones placed fifth with a time of 1:07.36. Kamryn Doty placed sixth with a time of 1:07.72.  In the 800, Claire Matthews placed third with a time of 2:33.71. 
 In the distance races, Claire Matthews also placed third in the 1600 with a time of 5:58.26. Matthews placed first in the 3200 with a time of 12:34.09, followed by Kendall Rynearson in second with a time of 12:49.04.
 Weiser’s relay teams also performed very well. The 4x100m relay team: Madi Wilkins, Abi Wilkins, Bethany Walker, and Kailee Lerew placed first with a  time of 52.83. The 4x200 team: Madi Wilkins, Kamryn Doty, Abi Wilkins, and Kailee Lerew placed first with a time of 1:55.10. The 4x400 team: Evie Dolton, Kendall Rynearson, Callee Foster, and Rylee Roberts also placed first with a time of 4:37.29. The SMR team: Madi Wilkins, Bethany Walker, Madi Jones, and Kendall Rynearson placed third with a time of 2:04.75. 
 Weiser also had athletes perform well in the field events. Teagan Hawker placed first in shot put with a distance of 31’6”. Paytyn Rollins placed fourth with a distance of 28’ 3”. Emma Kaprielian placed seventh with a throw of 27’ 5.5”.  In discus,  Anna Rodriguez placed second with a throw of 89’4” and Teagan Hawker placed fourth with a throw of 82’4”. Payton Rollins placed sixth with a throw of 79’. In the high jump, Kamryn Doty placed fourth with a height of 4’4”. In the triple jump, Bethany Walker placed third with a distance of 32’ 8.5”. 
 Weiser athletes performed extremely well especially considering the less than ideal weather. The meet was a good preview looking forward to the district competition since this was the first meet with all SRV teams in attendance. Weiser is looking forward to hosting the Weiser meet, Thursday, April 11 in Payette. This will be a smaller meet with only seven teams.
