Weiser’s Rustic Ranch named Idaho’s Best Nursery in the state

Bo and Gayla Stearns still don’t know who nominated them for the 2025 Idaho’s Best Nursery award, but during last week’s annual ceremony, the couple’s ongoing Weiser business was named the statewide winner in its category.

 “I’m assuming a customer nominated us,” Gayla told the Signal American. “We heard about the Best of Idaho on the internet, so we looked it up and saw that we were nominated. That alone excited us.

 “Then we put the word out that we were nominated and friends and customers could vote for us,” she said. “Only one vote per customer counts, then they go off of Google reviews for the previous year, plus your relationship and rating with the Better Business Bureau. So, all three things play into how they pick the overall winner.”

 Bo chimed in, “We owe all of this to our customers, they nominated us, they voted for us. Yes, we’re out here doing the work and trying to beautify this corner and make it ours, but the customers are what did it.”

 He said they have been selling trees for the past 18 to 20 years.

 “We’ve been doing it a long time,” he said. “We started out at our house years ago. When we first started doing a pop-up nursery, we would do it a couple of months of the year. We would pick a street corner, and we did it in New Meadows. 

 “We’ve done it a few places here in Weiser, then when we decided to go full time, we started out at Gayla’s mom’s shop next to Bo’s Barn,” Bo added. “We just tested the waters, and from there it snowballed. Now we’re to where we’re at, trying to offer a good product at a reasonable price.”

 Their move this spring to the north edge of Weiser off of Highway 95 seems to be working out even better than expected. Sitting below the highway, passing traffic noise seems to go over the top of the business, and the entrance into the nursery off of Quail Lane is low impact as far as traffic goes, as well.

 “It’s been a great move to the new location,” Gayla said.
