April 3 through April 6, Weiser FFA took several members from Weiser’s chapter to Twin Falls, Idaho to attend the 93rd Idaho FFA State Leadership Conference. At this conference, many FFA members were awarded for their hard work.
Here, state degrees were presented and competitions were held. We were blessed to have two representatives from our chapter be delegates for the conference. We got to sit in on six sessions where we watched an excellent talent performed by our very own Larell Chandler.
At the last session of the 93rd Idaho State Leadership Conference six new state officers were elected. We’re all excited to see what they have in store for us this upcoming year.
As a chapter we are very proud to announce we had six state degree recipients: Ryndon Olsen, Banzer Arnett, Brooklyn Brown, Lacey Christopherson, Hannah Grace, and Wyatt Erickson.
In order to obtain this degree you must first have your greenhand along with your chapter degree. Along with this, each student must have completed a supervised agriculture experience, or SAE.
Now that these individuals have obtained the highest degree our state offers, we hope to see them get awarded the American Degree later on.
Along with state degrees we had two scholarship recipients; Rylee Roberts and Kendall Rynearson. We love to see students taking matters into their own hands!
Erin Larsen and Lacey Christopherson were our two delegates representing our chapter. As delegates they got to sit in on meetings and discuss ways to improve the Idaho FFA Association. Erin Larsen’s motion even got approved! We’re happy and proud of these girls for learning the skills needed to conduct a meeting and being able to work together with others.
Another outstanding individual from our chapter is Larell Chandler. Larell blessed us all with the sound of her voice as she sang the National Anthem at the beginning of our final session. Not only did she perform the National Anthem, but also a song of her choice. Larell sure knows how to get the crowd involved!
This year we took one team to compete in career development events. We decided to take a floral team consisting of four members; Rylee Roberts, Emri Kunz, Emma Odoms, and Isabella Froshiesar. This competition consisted of making a corsage and arrangement, identifying 40 plants and 10 tools, as well as a test portion. The test portion was split in two, one about problem solving and the other about general knowledge related to floriculture and a little of horticulture. Even though our team did not place, we’re grateful for the opportunity and experience.
At the final session we watched our inspirational Clayton Moore wear his blue jacket for the very last time after serving Idaho FFA as the state treasurer. Clayton ended his year of service with a job “exceptionally well done.” We are forever proud of our Clayton Moore!
This trip was filled with lots of success and memories! We are so grateful that our chapter got to take new members on this trip to share the lovely experience. Not only that, but to give them exposure to other chapters so they too can start networking. FFA truly teaches each of our members so much about the world and ourselves. We are forever proud of all our members’ accomplishments, and we can’t wait to see what our members do next year!
