Vivian (McPherson) Scott Muir

Vivian M. Muir passed away May 19, 2019, at the age of 96.
She was born Sept. 24, 1922, to Del and Helen McPherson, and was raised and educated in the Elma/Aberdeen, Wash., area.
She worked at the Bremerton Army Depot during WWII as a hyster driver where she met Arlie Scott who was in the Navy and stationed at Bremerton. They were married April 5, 1944, and moved to the Boise valley.
They had three sons, Richard, Larry and Gene. Larry died at the age of three.
Arlie passed away in 1955 and Vivian continued to raise her boys while working at the telephone company in Ontario, Ore., and at the courthouse in Montesano, Wash.
She moved back to Parma to be near family where she met and married Larry Muir in 1961. In 1963, they moved to Weiser where they owned and operated Farmers Insurance for many years.
Vivian was involved in forming the Friends of the Hospital group and volunteered hundreds of hours at the hospital. She also volunteered many, many hours to the American Red Cross at blood drives and was a donor of more than 64 gallons.
Vivian also worked on the election board and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association for many years.
She was selfless and humble in giving her time in the Weiser community and never expected to be recognized but in 1990, Vivian was honored by Beta Sigma Phi as their First Lady of the Year.
She was known for her cookie, fruitcake and birthday cake baking and she delivered countless baked goodies to family and friends through the years.
She lived in Weiser for 50 years then moved to Nampa in 2012 to be near her son, Gene, and his family.
She lived independently until a few months before her death. Vivian loved her family and all of the little kids who came into her life, and they brought her such joy. She was fiercely independent, positive about every situation, selfless, loving and truly a great person who will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
