Upper Country Singers preparing for annual holiday performance

It’s just about the right time for the Upper Country Singers to start practices for their annual holiday performance. The first practice is set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 11, at the Midvale school. The area’s singers will be perfecting Christmas songs relating to this year’s theme, ‘All is Merry and Bright.’ Submitted photo
The Upper Country Singers will begin rehearsals for their annual Christmas performance on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Midvale School. No auditions or previous experience is required.
The group has been in existence in one form or another for many years in the Upper Country. However, choir members now travel from Council, Mesa, Indian Valley, Cambridge, Midvale, and Weiser. For the last 15 years, the Singers have performed their Christmas concert in the Cambridge Exhibit Hall to large appreciative crowds.
This year’s theme is “All Is Merry and Bright.” The choir will sing arrangements of “O Holy Night,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Noel,” along with many others. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.
The Upper Country Children’s Choir will also begin rehearsals on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Midvale Community Church. The children will perform alongside the adult choir, and also their own dances and songs.
