Seniors to ring in the new year with music and food

I pray everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving, and you remembered to give thanks for the blessings we have. I am so thankful every day that I live in a free country, where I can worship as I please, vote as my conscience determines, freely go where I wish. We are living in a time where our values as we knew them are fast fading away. What a terrible shame.
I went to my granddaughter’s for Thanksgiving and what a great time. My grandson brought me a humongous poinsettia that was so awesomely pretty! I am thinking of making it my tree this Christmas.
Seniors had a great pancake breakfast on Dec. 3 and the next one will be on Dec. 17. There will be biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns and drinks. My favorite.
The Community Thanksgiving dinner, sponsored and served by Toby and Dana Clary family, and Susan Slyter, from the Flower Basket and Small Town Fitness, was so appreciated by all that attended.. Every year they do this for our community, and do such a tremendous job.
Then our great COPS, (Citizens on Patrol), come along next, sponsoring the Community Christmas Dinner. Such a blessing to have these wonderful caring people in our small town. However this is what Weiser is all about! The seniors do their part by donating their building and kitchen for these events.
The Gem State Fiddlers are playing on Dec. 8 and would like to invite all to come and listen to the music. We bring snacks and there is always coffee and tea on hand.
Big news: the seniors are sponsoring an early night, Dec. 31,  New Year’s Eve party, for all who are either members or would like to be members. Or if you just want some place to go, you don’t have to be old. It starts at 4 p.m. There will be snacks, wings with dipping sauces, garlic bread sticks and whatever else we think of. Coffee, and tea, hot or cold. Bring a snack to share, and if you like, your own pop. Music and dancing by the Gem State Fiddlers starts at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will be fun.
The foot clinic will be held on Dec. 11.
Bingo every Monday, cost $15 for packet for many games. This money all goes to the Meals on Wheels program.
Pinochle is every Thursday, 12:30 p.m., cost $1 to help on the utilities.
Everyone have a safe and sane happy Christmas and all of December.
Hugs and a Merry Christmas, Joanne.
