Noyer throws no-hitter to secure state berth

Tobie Noyer led the Lady Wolverines softball team to an 11-1 no-hitter win over the Payette Pirates on Monday, May 9, securing one of two 3A berths to Idaho’s State Championships.
 In rainy and wet conditions, Noyer went five innings in the circle for Weiser, allowing the Pirates one run on no hits, and striking out six.
 The Wolverines broke out into the lead early with seven runs in the first inning, behind RBIs by Noyer, Paisley Noyer, Abi Wilkins, Macy Maloney, Grace Swank, and Whitney Cordes.
 Starting in the circle for Payette, Kiah Wiedeman pitched one inning, allowing seven runs on eight hits and seven errors. Sofie Lebow took over in the second, throwing three innings, allowing four runs on five hits and two errors, and striking out three.
 Payette’s one run was delivered in the second inning, after J. Robinson was put on base by a hit by pitch. Robinson advanced to second when a batter was walked, and then scored from there on a catcher’s error.
 Weiser added one run in the second, two in the third, and ended the game with one run in the bottom of the fifth, generating the 10-run rule.
 Weiser’s hitting was spread across multiple players, with Ivy Morris, Cordes, T. Noyer, Wilkins, and G. Swank all going two-for three at the plate. T. Noyer, P. Noyer, and Swank produced two RBIs apiece, and Cordes, Wilkins, Mecarte Olsen, Maloney, and Taylor Bushong, each with one.
Low-scoring District final opens path to State 
Championships
 Weiser’s Lady Wolverines claimed a berth to Idaho 3A State Softball Championships earning District 3’s Runner-Up title in a narrow 3-0 loss to Homedale Wednesday, May 11. 
 The Wolverines knew they would be heading to the state championships after an 11-1 thrashing over the Payette Pirates on Monday, May 9, but were holding out hope to go as District 3’s championship team. 
 The Wolverines faced off against Homedale in what turned out to be a six and a-half inning defensive duel. 
 Falling behind by one run in the first inning, the Lady Wolverines bats struggled against Trojans pitcher Dani Sitts. In seven innings, Sitts struck out 11, allowing four hits and no runs.
 In the circle for Weiser, Tobie Noyer went six innings, striking out six and allowing three runs on four hits.
 Weiser held Homedale to one run through five innings. In the bottom of the sixth, a pair of Weiser fielding errors allowed two Trojan runners on base. After tagging up on third base, Olivia Asumendi scored on a fly out to right field. A wild pitch gave Zayne Hall an opening to score a third run for Homedale.
 After two outs in the top of the seventh, Mecarte Olsen singled on a line drive to center, but a fly out in the next at bat ended the game, and set the stage for District 3’s State Championship tournament entries.
 The 3A tournament will begin on Friday, May 20, in Buhl, with the Lady Wolverines meeting the Buhl Indians at 9 a.m. At the same time, the Trojans will face Kellogg’s Lady Wildcats.
