Lady Wolverines take top State Academic honors, earn fourth place golf trophy

Traveling to Buhl a couple of days early for the Idaho State 4A golf tournament on Saturday, May 10, Weiser’s Lady Wolverines played the two-day competition on Monday and Tuesday, May 12 and 13, bringing home a fourth place team trophy. While trophies were being distributed, the Wolverines were recognized as the State 4A Academic Champions among the field of seven teams.
 In girls individual competition, 2025 Weiser High School graduate Lucy Hickey ended her high school career splitting third and fourth in a tie with Buhl’s Stori Poppay at 171 strokes over the two days and 36 holes of golf.
 “We had a very successful season and we are very proud of our team,” Head Coach Tom Harrison told the Signal American. “The competition at state was very tough and talented. Our girls brought home a nice trophy and had a great four-day experience.
 “Thanks to all the parents and supporters,” Harrison added. “And thanks to our coaches who put in lots of time and energy to help our boys and girls compete in the great game of golf.”
 The Wolverines were sitting in third at the end of the first day of play, with a team total 398 strokes. The second day’s round of play tallied up to 422, putting the total score at 820, 17 over third place Bear Lake.
 Kimberly won the 2025 title, shooting a total 726, and Filer was the runner-up with 785. 
 The top five medalists  were: Tanli Lemoyne, Filer, 152; Shelby Heider, Kimberly, and Ellyce Simmons, Kimberly, tied for second, each shooting 166; and Poppay and Hickey splitting third and fourth, with 171. 
 The remaining Wolverine individual team members finished as follows: Samantha Kingsbury, 12th, 206; Pressley Williams, tied 18th, 219; Avery Palmer, 24th, 226; and Hannah Grace, tied 30th, 239.
