Lady Wolverines take 18-5 loss at Middleton

 Weiser’s Wolverines varsity softball team found themselves behind early in Thursday’s, May 16 game against Middleton’s Lady Vikings. Weiser finally scored in the top of the fourth inning on back-to-back homeruns by Abi Wilkins and Paisley Noyer. Batting next, Tobie Noyer doubled, advancing to third on a ground out, and scoring on the next out, narrowing Weiser’s deficit to 13-3.
 The Wolverines struggled early on defense, allowing the Vikings eight runs in the bottom of the first, three in the second, two in the third, and five in the fourth. 
 Weiser put hits into play in their half of each of the first three innings, but scoring was cut short by Middleton’s defense.
 In the top of the fifth inning, Jordan Stromberg hit a ground ball and reached first base on a Middleton error. Stromberg advanced to second on a ground out to first, stole third, and scored on the next ground out. With two outs, Wilkins singled on a ground ball to left field. Up next, P. Noyer doubled on a fly ball to left, scoring Wilkins.
 T. Noyer got on first on a fielding error, advancing P. Noyer to third, but they were left stranded with the final out in the next at-bat, ending the game with an 18-5 loss for the Wolverines.

defeats Vikings 18-9
 In earlier action, Weiser’s junior varsity team made their season debut, earning an 18-9 win over the Middleton JV team.
 Weiser’s Jordan Campbell led with four hits, one run, and four RBIs, hitting singles in each of the first three innings, and a triple in the fourth.
 Behind by one run after the first inning, Weiser jumped to a 6-4 lead after two, added three in the third, then took the win with eight runs in the fourth.
 Campbell, Bennett Torres, Aryssa Aburto, Hunter Hastie, and Evie Dolton each chalked up multiple hits in the outing.
 Aburto took the win from the mound for Weiser, pitching three innings, throwing six strikeouts, and allowing seven runs on three hits. Madi Janicek pitched one inning, throwing one strikeout, and allowing two runs on two hits.
