Lady Wolverines dominate track meet

Weiser hosts track meet in Payette with both teams placing first

The Weiser High School track teams hosted the Weiser Invite on Friday March 22 at the Payette track. Weiser athletes performed well, with both teams taking first place out of ten teams.

 In the men’s division, Weiser scored 137.5. Fruitland placed second with a score of 123.5. Payette came in third with a score of 84.5. 
 Weiser had several athletes place near the top for several events. Starting with the sprint distances: In the 100m, Jayden Walker placed second with a time of 11.34. Toren Walker placed fourth with a time of 11.42. Brock Spencer placed fifth with a time of 11.58. Jackson Laird placed sixth with a time of 11.59. In the 200m, Jayden Walker finished third with a time of 23.33. Jackson Laird placed fourth with a time of 23.76. Xander Grey placed fifth with a time of 24.15. 
 In the mid-distance races: Toren Walker first in the 400 with a time of 51.59 and Garrett Walker placed seventh with a time of 55.78. In the 800m race, Josh Kelley placed fourth with a time of 2:10.4 and Judah Parsons placed fifth with a time of 2:11.48 
 For the long distance races, Judah Parsons placed third in the 1600 with a time of 4:58.12 and Josh Kelley placed fifth with a time of 4:58.12. Jorge Martinez placed sixth with a time of 5:17.37. Ammon Anderson placed seventh with a time of 5:26.59. In the 3200, Judah Parsons placed second with a time of 10:36.32, Blake Quinton placed third with a time of 10:45.86, Jorge Martinez placed fourth at 11:29.35 and Gage Walker placed sixth with a time of 12:17.14. 
 Weiser’s relay teams all competed well. The 4x100m team: Brock Spencer, Jackson Laird, Jayden Walker, and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 43:76. The 4x200 team: Aaron Alva, Alex Juarez, Riggin Roberts, and Gabriel McLaughlin placed third with a time of 1:42.95. The 4x400 team: Jayden Walker, Jackson Laird, Garrett Walker and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 3:37.82. 
 Several athletes also did well in field events. In shot put, Karsten Walker placed eighth with a throw of 38’ 11.5”. Brock Spencer placed fifth in high jump with a height of 5’4. In the pole vault, Ben Hansen and Xander Gray placed fifth with a height of 9’ 6”. In long jump, Xander Gray placed second with a distance of 19’11”. 
 In the womens’ competition, Weiser dominated with a team score of 217.5. Liberty Charter placed second with a score of 106. Homedale placed third with a score of 105.5. 
 In the sprint distances: Kailee Lerew placed second in the 100 with a time of 13.3. Madi Wilkins placed fifth with a time of 13.68. Madi Jones placed seventh with a time of 13.88. In the 200, Kailee Lerew placed first with a time of 26.98. Bethany Walker placed fifth with a time of 28.98. In the 300m hurdles, Abi Wilkins placed third with a time of 53.6. 
 In the mid-distance races, Kailee Lerew placed first in the 400m with a time of 1:01.66. Claire Matthews placed fourth with a time of 1:06.50. Madi Jones placed sixth with a time of 1:10.95. Callee Foster placed eighth with a time of 1:12.33. In the 800, Claire Matthews placed first with a time of 2:32.16. Corianna Parsons placed fourth with a time of 2:44.54. 
 In the distance races, Claire Matthews also placed first in the 3200 with a time of 12:07.06 and Kendall Rynearson placed third with a time of 12:45.06. Claire Matthews also placed first in the 1600 with a time of 5:49.47. Corianna Parsons placed third with a time of 5:59.86.
 Weiser’s relay teams performed well overall. The 4x100m relay team: Madi Wilkins, Abi Wilkins, Kamryn Doty, and Bethany Walker placed third with a time of 53.42. The 4x200 team: Madi Wilkins, Kamryn Doty, Abi Wilkins, and Kailee Lerew placed first with a time of 1:53.81. The 4x400 team (Kamryn Doty, Kendall Rynearson, Callee Foster, and Rylee Roberts) also placed first with a time of 4:33.83. The SMR team (Madi Wilkins, Bethany Walker, Madi Jones, and Rylee Roberts) placed first with a time of 2:00.73. 
 Weiser also had athletes perform well in the field events. Teagan Hawker placed first in shot put with a distance of 30’10”. Emma Kaprielian placed second with a distance of 29’4”. Hailey Eames placed fifth with a throw of 28’4”. Paytyn Rollins placed sixth with a distance of 27’5”. In discus, Anna Rodriguez placed second with a throw of 91’3” and Paytyn Rollins placed third with a throw of 80’1”. Teagan Hawker placed fifth with a throw of 79’2”. In the high jump, Kamryn Doty placed first with a height of 4’10”. In the pole vault Ella Terry and Corianna Parsons placed fifth with a height of 6’6”. In the triple jump, Bethany Walker placed first with a distance of 32’4.75”. Kendall Rynearson placed sixth with a distance of 28’6.75”. 
 Weiser will have to host all their track meets in Payette this year due to the condition of the Weiser track, but in spite of this, the meet flowed smoothly thanks to several volunteers. The weather was ideal and since almost the whole SRV was in attendance it was a great way to preview the rest of the season with both Weiser teams earning the top spot. The team will look forward to their next meet, the Parma meet on April 5.
