Emergency crews last week responded to a fire that destroyed a home within the Gateway RV Park in Weiser.
The Weiser Fire District, on Wednesday, March 6, was on scene at 9:39 a.m., firefighters successfully containing a fire that had engulfed a single-wide trailer in space 13. The department’s quick response prevented the blaze from jumping to adjacent trailers, which are narrowly spaced.
The RV park is located one block south of Commercial Street and is situated between E. Sixth and E. Seventh streets. The address is 229 E. Seventh (U.S. 95).
The Weiser Fire District, Washington County Paramedics, Weiser Police, and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded.
“Weiser Fire District arrived to find the older mobile home was heavily involved in fire with vehicles, a motor home, and other manufactured homes nearby, threatened,” according to a March 7 Weiser Fire District press release. “No one was inside the home when firefighters arrived. The fire was contained to the original mobile home, none of the surrounding exposures were damaged. The mobile home and its contents were a total loss. The Idaho State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the fire’s cause. At this time the fire is under investigation.”
 No injuries were reported.
It is the third fire to occur within an RV/mobile home park in Weiser in as many years.
On Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, a fire broke out shortly before 9 a.m. at Clifford’s Trailer Park, located at 1190 W. Ninth Street.
The trailer was a total loss, but the fire was contained before it could spread.
The owner admitted to falling asleep in his chair while smoking, ultimately leading to a fire igniting.
Another fire occurred on Monday, July 31, 2023. Fire crews were dispatched to the Diamond MH Village trailer park, located at 1020 Pioneer Road, at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Multiple homes, a shed, and a vehicle were destroyed in the fire. Payette, Fruitland, and Ontario Fire Departments, as well as the Sand Hollow Fire Protection District, were called in for mutual aid. There were no injuries, but several individuals and at least one child were displaced. The fire was investigated by the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause, which is yet to be determined.
