Displays of nativity scenes becoming a holiday tradition

Weiser – Don’t you find when you have an especially cherished possession that brings you great joy, you just want everyone to see it and feel those same feelings? That’s the concept behind the community Christmas Crèche Exhibit set for Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
“I absolutely love Christmas, and I truly love the beauty of Nativities,” said Becky Anderson, one of the event’s champions. “I know there are members of our community who have amazing Crèches/Nativities they would love to share with others.”
The call is going out to anyone in the area to unbox their Nativity scenes and bring them together to be displayed.
This is the third year for the Christmas Crèche Exhibit. In years past, the display has included hundreds of nativities from South America, Africa, Europe – all over the world, and others that are handmade or treasures passed down from generation to generation. The key to the success of this event is for as many members of the community to participate as possible.
“Join with our community in celebrating and reverencing Jesus Christ at the start of this Christmas Season, whether they have a Nativity they want to share or not. We look forward to a marvelous weekend together as we express our common love for our Savior, Jesus Christ,” said Anderson.
Even if one does or does not have a Nativity to share, there are other ways to catch the spirit of the occasion. Organizers are looking for Christ-centered artwork to display and they are asking for musical talents focused on worshiping Jesus Christ to come forward and share. Finally, everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the start of this Christmas season.
“This event is for everyone, regardless of where you worship,” said Travis Youngberg, President of the Weiser Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Please join with us as we celebrate the greatest gift that God has ever given us. The gift of his Son.”
The Christmas Crèche Exhibit runs Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 E. Main Street in Weiser.
 The Nativity display check-in and set-up will be Friday, Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Community musicians and choirs should reach out to Becky Wolery at 208-739-1505 to perform.
