City works hard to keep the cost of services as low as possible

Dear Editor:
The proposed increase [to City of Weiser services] comes as no surprise to me and the percentage, while it
sounds high, is not based on the current rates, which are remarkably low to begin with considering the services we receive in town.
We have twice a week garbage pick-up, water services that are seldom, if ever disrupted, the use of the town “dump” truck, leaf removal in the fall and
seasonal alley pick up for yard debris. If you had to pay separately for those services or just rent a truck or trailer to haul your junk or yard debris to the dump, the cost would far exceed what we currently pay or will pay with the increase.
I think the way the city is managing the increases in smaller increments is a great idea. It will give the residents time to adjust how we use these services to mitigate and minimize future increases.
Thank you, Mike Campbell, for all your hard work on this and your commitment to keeping the cost of our public works as low as possible.
 Regards,
Christina Marie Stanley
