Candidate forum set for Thurs. May 2

A candidate forum for local and District 9 Legislative candidates is scheduled for May 2 at the Vendome Events Center, at 309 State St. in Weiser, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
 Doors will open early for candidates to stage their campaign/marketing materials on provided tables.
 On tap are candidates Josh Dolton and True Pearce who are vying for the open Washington County Prosecuting Attorney position, along with county commissioner candidates Carolyn Wesner, Jim Harberd, and Lisa Collini for District 1; and incumbent Gordon Wilkerson and Linda Strain for District 3.
 Though running unopposed, Washington County Sheriff Matt Thomas will participate in the forum.
 Local candidates are scheduled to field pre-written questions from the public from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by legislative candidates from approximately 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. 
 They include Idaho Senate, District 9 candidates Rachel Buck, Brandon Shippy, and Scott Syme; Idaho House, Seat A, candidates Jacyn Gallagher, John Shirts and Thomas Albritton, who has  indicated he will not be at the forum; as well as House, Seat B, candidates Judy Keeler and Judy Boyle.
 Questions for the candidates can be emailed to weisersignalamerican@gmail.com, dropped off at the newspaper office at 18 E. Idaho St. in Weiser, or can be written down as you walk in the door at the Vendome on May 2.
 Local businessman Patrick Nauman will serve as the evening’s moderator.
