Back to school night at Annex set for Aug. 21

Weiser Middle School opens with an orientation day on Aug. 14

While Oregon side eighth grade and high school students enrolled in the Weiser School District will be heading back to school on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 14 and 15, Annex Charter School’s K-7th graders will get a few extra days of summer before attending a back to school night on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The first full day of school is set to begin the following morning, Aug. 22. 

 During the back to school night, students and families will meet the staff, get acquainted with the child’s teacher, and tour the school.

 According to an Annex Charter spokesperson, the Annex bus will transport the Weiser enrolled students into town beginning on Aug. 14, with a full day of classes planned at Weiser High School.

Something new at WMS

 The first day for students attending Weiser Middle School holds a new addition to this year’s school start with a modified orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 14, where students can pick up their class schedules, pay registration fees, pre-pay for school lunches, and get their school photos taken. The doors at WMS will open that morning at 8 a.m. for the reshaped school day, during which students are expected to attend one of three scheduled hour-long sessions that will walk them through their class schedules, where they will meet each of their teachers, and learn more about the individual classes. 

 The first session runs from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; the second from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.; and the third from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., giving parents some choices in the time to take their students to school that day. On Thursday, Aug. 15, students attending Weiser Middle School, including Annex area eighth graders, will see a normally scheduled school day, with bus transportation available at both ends of the day.

 Starting with a full day of school at Annex Charter School on Thursday, Aug. 22, students will want to have the following supplies for their grade levels.

Kindergarten
