Annual youth track meet draws athletes from across the valley

The time came and passed with great enthusiasm and success. The annual Weiser Recreation youth track program had a tremendous turnout with athletes and their relatives cheering them on. 

 This year, there were athletes from other towns participating. A pair of siblings from Boise spent the week with their grandparents so they could compete. A set of twins who have graced the WHS track many times for this event traveled from New Plymouth. Former WHS graduate, Nicole Hata Bergquist brought her Ontario track club to compete. Payette, Fruitland and Kuna were all represented. Wow, was the competition fierce. 

 From 5 to 10 years of age, the events were packed with a lot of athletes. In all, 118 future super stars strutted their stuff on Saturday, June 1. 

 Perhaps the most memorable of all are the smiles, the tongue hanging out concentration of runners and the perfect weather. 

 So many people helped to make this event another rousing success and my heartfelt thanks goes out to each and every one of you. Weiser is a great place for our kids. If you missed this “feel good” event, come watch next year. Same place, basically the same time of year.
