It’s high time to get the Senior Center paid off

 The Weiser Activity Center for Seniors is a valued part of our community, but currently has had a ball and chain around its neck for way too long. That ball and chain is a horrendous mortgage, which the center has been trying to keep up with for over 13 years – that’s 13 years! We have made no ground and it’s time to get it paid off. 
 The balance is still around $197,000 after all these years. The payment is around $1,800 per month. That is way too much money being paid out that the center could use for other needs, primarily feeding seniors in need.

 Hello.
 Having been a teacher (and parent) I can tell you that I care about kids and their health. Reading the recent article about vaccines and the decision of the Washington County Commissioners to sign a letter of support for the anti-vaccination viewpoint of Laura Demaray, I feel compelled to just point a
couple of things out. 
 Yes, as was pointed out by another letter to the editor about this, vaccines should have never become politicized. But they have

Cathy and I again spent Saturday morning and early afternoon watching grade school basketball. Since our grandsons do not live in Weiser, we usually need to drive to the games. However, one of the boys had back-to-back games against Weiser teams at the High School Auxiliary Gym Saturday morning.

Weiser Elks Santa Giveaway Dec. 8

 The Weiser Elks Lodge annual Santa Giveaway, for kids ages 0-17, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8. Hot dogs will be served from 5-8 p.m. All are welcome. The lodge is located at 30 W. Idaho St. in downtown Weiser.
