Weiser hosts firefighter open house, walk/run and theater performances this week

A trio of community events will bring residents together this week for education, celebration and entertainment.

 The Weiser Fire Department will host an open house Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. as part of Firefighters Appreciation Week. The public is invited to tour the station, meet local firefighters and learn about fire safety. Refreshments will be served.

 On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Angel Wings Network will hold its 14th annual walk/run at Weiser City Park. Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by a Zumba warm-up at 10:30 a.m. The 1-mile and 5K races start at 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, largest team, oldest walker, farthest traveled, best dressed pet, fastest finisher and vendor giveaways. A cornhole tournament, new this year, will begin at noon. Entry is $20 per team of two. For more information, call 208-414-9464.

 The Weiser Little Theater will present “Wild Women of Winedale” with multiple performances this week and next. Dessert-and-show tickets are $20 and available for Oct. 9, 14 and 16, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Dinner-and-show tickets are $30 and available for Oct. 10, 17 and 18, also with doors at 6 p.m. and showtime at 7:30 p.m.

 On Saturday, Oct. 11, a matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. with dessert included. That evening, a dinner-and-show performance will follow the standard schedule. Tickets are available at WeiserLittleTheater.org.
