Ward Sutton

Ward Sutton, of Weiser Idaho, passed away on March 17, 2026 after a long and happy life at age 96.
He was born in Weiser to Frank and Mildred Sutton on July 14, 1929. He grew up on the family homestead near Midvale, Idaho, until he graduated from high school in 1947.
He attended the University of Idaho where he earned a degree in agriculture.
He was drafted into service during the Korean War, and served from 1952-1953. He worked in the field post office because he already knew how to type. In later years, he was very proud of that service and participated in two veteran’s revisit tours to South Korea.
After an honorable discharge, he returned home to Weiser and married Laura Joyce Morgan in 1956. They were married for 69 years until his death.
Together Ward and Joyce raised three children, all of whom survive him: David (Connie) Sutton of Tillamook Ore., Wendy (John West) Kautz of Weiser, and Melanie (Aric Johnson) Sutton of La Grande Ore.
He worked at the Consumers Co Op in Weiser for 30 years until his retirement, and also worked with Joyce at Sutton Real Estate.
He and his wife Joyce traveled across the U.S. in their camper van after retirement, and spent many winters in Overton Nev. where they made new friends and enjoyed the sunshine.
Ward enjoyed travel-ing, hiking, and being in nature. He liked to visit relatives in Midvale with his brother. He enjoyed telling people the scientific names of plants. He enjoyed doing puzzles and growing tomatoes.
A child of the Depression, he always cleaned his plate.
Ward was a quiet calm man who could surprise you with a zinger of a joke and a lovely dry wit. He made us laugh and taught us all not to take life too seriously. We will miss him.
He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, and siblings Lee Sutton, Jean Klingbeil, and Curtis Sutton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred, and brother Bill Sutton.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood. Ward was a proud blood donor and donated over 21 gallons in his lifetime, well into his elder years.
A graveside service will be held on Friday March 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Weiser cemetery, with reception to follow. All are welcome to attend.
