St. Luke’s hosts Blessing of the Animals at new dog park

In celebration of the bond between humans and their beloved pets, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon at the new Weiser dog park, Happy Tails Dog Park, located at 1110 E. Park St.
The event honors St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and all of God’s creation. Families are invited to bring their well-behaved dogs, contained cats, and even photos or favorite toys representing other cherished animals for a special blessing.
“This is a beautiful way to recognize the joy and companionship our pets bring into our lives,” said a church representative. “It’s also a moment to reflect on the sacredness of all living things.”
The Blessing of the Animals is open to everyone in the community, regardless of faith tradition. Attendees are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early and gather in the lawn area of the dog park.
Donations collected during the event will benefit the Weiser River Shelter and Rescue, supporting their ongoing efforts to care for and rehome animals in need.
Whether your pet barks, purrs, chirps – or lives in your heart as a memory – this event offers a gentle moment of gratitude, connection, and community spirit.
