Rick Vernon Morey
Rick passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side on Jan. 27, 2024, after a long illness.
Rick was born in Ontario, Ore., on July 30, 1955, to Carol and Helen (Davis) Morey. They lived in Ontario until Rick was 3, when the family moved to Weiser, where he lived out the rest of his life.
Rick met his wife, Lynetta, in May of 1987, while filming the Riggins Rodeo. The two of them hit it off right away. They knew they were soulmates, and they were married Nov. 21 of that same year. The two of them and Lynetta’s daughter, Mandy, shared 36 wonderful years together as a family.
Rick was a jack of all trades. A master of many, he held a handful of jobs throughout his life, but his absolute favorite was long haul truck driving with Lynetta.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Helen, his father, Carol Morey, and his nephew, Major Gregory Stone.
Rick is survived by his wife, Lynetta; daughter, Mandy Reel; son-in-law, Daniel Grissom; two granddaughters, Kaylee Michael and Montana Reel; two grandsons, Steven and Keaton Michael; three sisters, Betty Lenzi, Judy Coffelt, and Kandi Gallagher; and one chosen sister, Sylvia Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Kendall, Odin, Ashton, Grayson, Alexander, Ares, Kalayah, Ezra, and Finley. Also, many nieces and nephews, including great- and great-great ones.
Rick loved his family, each and every one. He will be missed greatly, but never forgotten.
Rick leaves a legacy, “A legacy of love.”
A celebration of life will be held on June 1, with the time and location to be announced.
