Peggy Lou Marshall

 Peggy Lou Marshall, 94, passed away at her home in Weiser, Idaho on Dec. 24, 2024. 

 Peggy was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Burton, Idaho. At the age of three she was sent to the Idaho Children’s Home in Boise, Idaho. While there she hurt her hip and was taken to the Shriner’s Hospital in Portland, Ore. and it was discovered she had congenital hip dislocation. 

 During her yearlong stay at the Shriner’s, she met then President Franklin D. Roosevelt and presented him with flowers. At the age of four she went home with a family who lived in Filer, Idaho for two years. That placement did not work out, so she was sent back to the Children’s Home in Boise in a laundry service truck. 

 Claude and Mary Wade of Weiser adopted Peggy and blessed her with love and a childhood of adventures and many opportunities. 

 While a senior in high school Peggy discovered she had a biological brother who had been adopted by a family in Nampa, Idaho. Richard (Dick) Madden was serving in the Navy when she contacted him, and they met after Dick left the service. 

 She graduated from Weiser High School in 1948 and then attended the University of Idaho to study nursing. Peggy then started nurses training at St. Luke’s Hospital, Boise. 

 She met the love of her life, Don Marshall, and they were married in 1951, and she was not able to continue her training until their four children were in school. She attended Boise Junior College and graduated in 1966 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a pediatric nurse at St. Luke’s and then in a doctor office until her retirement.

 Peggy and Don raised four children in their 58 years of marriage. She volunteered for various community organizations and events, including the ROSE Advocates Thrift Store and she was a member of Friends of the Hospital for several years.

 Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Mary Wade, her husband Don Marshall, brother Dick Madden, a baby boy Gregg Marshall, a son Sidney Marshall, daughter Sharon Marshall, and granddaughter Louise Waldrop.

 She is survived by her son Rodney (Kathy) Marshall, Spokane, Wash., daughter Beverly (Jerry) Hopkins, Weiser, daughter-in-law Laurie Marshall, Oregon; sister-in-law Lynn Madden, Washington; grandchildren Aaron (Beth) Marshall, Oregon, Tricia (Jordan) Sykes, Washington, Ryan Waldrop, Boise, Misty (Mike) Baker, Weiser, Chris (Buffie) Hopkins, Nampa, Matt Hopkins, Mountain Home. Eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

 The most important thing in her life was her family who will miss her laughter.
