Mary Elizabeth Carlow

Mary Elizabeth Carlow, 71, of Weiser, Idaho passed peacefully on March 21, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Nampa, Idaho.
Mary was born on Dec. 22, 1954, in Caldwell, Idaho to Stan Carlow and Betty Stanford Carlow Lacey. In joining her sister, Nina, the family was now complete.
They were raised in Weiser and Midvale, Idaho. Mary worked hard on the ranch in Midvale during wheat harvest.
After graduating from Midvale High School she went on to beauty college, which she soon decided was not to be her career choice. She worked several years at Champion Homes doing vinyl wrapping on sheet rock. After leaving Champion Homes she went to work for Ore-Ida Foods and retired after 35-plus years.
Mary was a very strong, hard-working, and independent woman. She was mechanically inclined and would fix anything she set her mind to. In her spare time she cleaned and painted homes inside and out, also worked at several different bars in town, and was a designated driver for many.
Mary lived in a rental for many years. At this rental she hosted a party every year on Saturday during Fiddle Festival. Her friends would all gather there for a game of cards and catching up with each other for the year. It was lots of fun for those who attended.
Her friend, Diane, remembers getting together with Mary in the '70s and going all over town in Mary’s orange VW. There were a lot of stories and good memories in that orange VW.
Mary was very generous in donating her time helping others at Christmas. She purchased turkeys and hams and donated them to several organizations in town. She always made sure to get names off the tree at MTE in town to buy gifts for families in need. Also, Mary was known at Christmas for making fudge and sharing with all she knew.
Mary had a huge collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia which she added to all the time, and also a nice collection of elephants (trunks up!).
Four years ago, Mary had a stroke which left her paralyzed on her left side. Unable to care for herself and confined to a wheelchair, she moved to Meadow View in Nampa, Idaho. Here are a few things that people texted to her friend, Bert, after hearing of her passing:
“She was brave. She fought a hard battle for years.”
“Lost a great woman. Had fun on hooker runs. She was a hoot!”
“Mary was a friend of many.”
“She was an amazing lady!”
“Tequila shots and 31-card parties!”
“She took good care of her mother.”
“Now with her mom and sister.”
Mary is survived by a stepbrother, Tyrone Lacey; and first-cousins Vikki, Toni, Robin, Louise, Paul, Dennis, Mike, and Dee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and her many friends from the Weiser and Midvale areas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stan Carlow; mother, Betty Lacey; and sister, Nina Carlow; and stepbrother, John Lacey.
Condolences may be sent to Vikki Price, 2551 Norwood Dr., Nyssa, OR 97913.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to: Weiser Elks Lodge, 38 West Idaho, Weiser, ID 83672 or Toys for Tots at boise-id.toysfortots.org.
Mary, Nina and Betty will be laid to rest at the Jordan Valley Cemetery in Jordan Valley, Ore., at a later date.
