Irene Dewade McCommon

 Mrs. Irene Dewade McCommon passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at her home in Weiser, Idaho after a long battle with emphysema and cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 Mrs. McCommon was born Irene Dewade Martin in Modesto, Stanislaus, Calif., on Friday, June 10, 1938, to Ernest M. Martin and Jewell Belle Quinley Martin. 

 She was raised in Northern California and the towns of Willows, Fall River Mills, and MacArthur. She went to school in Fall River Mills.

 She later moved to Burney, Calif., and then to Redding, Calif., where she met and married William Vernon McCommon Sr. on Friday, Nov. 13, 1959, at the age of 21. 

 They first took up residency in Burney, Calif. After that they traveled extensively, as her husband was in construction. They were in many different states, where she always made a good home for her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

 She is survived by her husband, William McCommon; daughter, Clarissa Jewell Parry, Las Vegas, Nev.; son, William Vernon McCommon Jr., Weiser, Idaho; daughter, Donnett McCommon Haegele (Mike), Helena, Mont.; and son, Thomas Levi McCommon, East Helena, Mont.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest M. Martin and Jewell Belle Quinley Martin; a son, Scott Orval McCommon; one brother, Melbourne M. Martin; three sisters, Beverly Jean Martin Babcock, Bieber, Calif.; Patricia Ernestine Martin Hunter, and Lorene Rose Martin Scott, Burley, Idaho.

 She will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony at Hillcrest Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18. All friends and family are welcome. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m.  at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Weiser Memorial Hospital, Weiser, Idaho.
