Cook and Cobb wrangle their porcupine to a third place finish at Council 4th of July race

There was no shortage of places to celebrate the 2026 America250 4th of July. Council held its annual porcupine race with Weiser represented by more than one team of local critter ‘handlers.’ Both incoming WHS seniors, Klete Cook and Ty Cobb’s new friend Thor placed third in the race, and brought in the highest bid of the calcutta at $1,325 from Seizom Ranches. Council’s celebration covered both Friday through Sunday, and included a soap box derby, street dance, breakfast, car show, vendors, a softball tournament, plus the annual Loggers Jubilee, held at the Boise Cascade Park.
